Our Horses

Artex ("Artie")

Artie came to Bolingbrook Farm when he was two as an upper level event prospect for Adara. Working with Artie from the ground up, Adara produced him to the Training level of eventing. Unfortunately, before they were able to move up to international competition, Artie was diagnosed with a condition that limits his physical activity. He is now happily semi-retired as lesson horse and his gentle demeanor makes him a great teacher for riders of all levels.

Paint Me a River's Worth ("River")

River came to Bolingbrook in 2006. River was Adara's first horse and after some serious retraining he had a very successful competitive career at the regional and national level in eventing and dressage. Some of his accomplishments include completing the 2016 AEC's and winning 5th Place Individual First Level and Up Freestyle at USPC East Coast Championships. River now enjoys semi retirement teaching students the finer elements of dressage between jump rides all while sporting his signature grumpy demeanor. River has quite the personality and his famous favorite treat is a glazed doughnut.

Star Duster ("Dusty")

Dusty is an older Welsh Pony mare that was bought in 2012. She is perfect for young children learning to ride and does everything with her classic pony charm. Dusty now works hard munching grass in the field and is retired at the age of 32. She is much loved by all her former kids and is well known in the local equestrain community as a been-there, done-that pony.

Mischief Managed ("Comanche")

Comanche was bought as a yearling to be a comfortable trail horse, but over the years has become an accomplished dressage and event horse. He has a fun, bubbly, and mischievous personality that makes him loved by people of all ages and ensures that there is never a dull moment at the barn! He is a quick learner and enjoys teaching advanced students the ropes of eventing and dressage.

Really Super Hy ("Ghost")

Ghost is currently being leased by Bolingbrook Farms as a lesson horse. He is a 23 year old Appaloosa gelding who previously show jumped, with a sweet personality. Ghost is always one of the first horses to meet you at the gate for a ride. Even though he is a newcomer at Bolingbrook, he still loves to gallop and jump and can't wait to hop on the trailer for a fun day out trail riding, cross country schooling, or horse showing!

Sweet Serendipity ("Inky")

Inky is a 1999 Trakehner/TB cross that joined the Bolingbrook program in 2020. While his background was primarily in upper level dressage, he has a natural knack for jumps and loves to spend the day jumping around both in the arena and field or taking a nice relaxing hack around the farm. Inky has a condition called Cushing's Disease that prevents him from being able to eat sugar, and while he can't enjoy most treats, he loves to have a peanut after his ride!

Late Bloomer ("Poppy")

Poppy is a rescue pony that came to Bolingbrook in 2014. She is a bit of diva, with a sweet, sassy persona. She love to jump and go on hunter paces. With her small but stout size and easy to ride gaits, Poppy is a favorite among our adult amateur riders.
