Summer Camps 2023
Our summer camp programs are designed to be an immersive, all encompassing, level appropriate educational opportunity for students to build both their riding and horsemanship skills. Camps will run from mornings to early afternoon and be composed of both mounted and unmounted instruction tailored to each group's experience level and age.

There will be an early signup special for sign ups before May 1st with $75 off per week. Sign ups after May 1st, if spots are still available, will cost $275 for the beginner camp and $375 per week for the advanced camps. There is a 10% discount for siblings. In order to be fully signed up for camp, payment must be included.
A typical camp day schedule looks like:
730-8 am--> Drop off and assist with morning barn chores.
8-9 am --> Camp begins. Students groom and tack horses.
9-10 am --> Group #1 will ride
10-11 am --> Group #2 will ride
11-1130 am --> Untack horses and clean tack.
1130 am-12 pm --> Break for lunch/free time
12 - 2 pm --> Unmounted instruction
2 pm--> Pickup

All campers should come prepared to spend the day outside with the horses, so please bring:

sunscreen,
-
plenty of water
-
snacks/lunch
-
a comfortable change of clothes for the unmounted instruction
Riding attire is the same as regular lessons: long pants, closed toed shoes with a 2" heel, long hair safely put up, and no dangly jewelry.
Beginner Weekend Camp:
Will run Thursday June 8th --> Saturday June 10th
Mounted instruction will cover:
-Control over cues and position at the walk and trot
- Riding exercises over ground poles and small (10-12") crossrails
-Basic introduction to riding over terrain
Unmounted instruction will cover:
-Basic horse management and safety
-Pony parts
-Parts of the saddle
-Parts of the bridle
-Introduction to horse terms
-What are eventing and dressage?
-Colors and markings
-Horse breeds
-Tack management
-Hoof anatomy and care
-Basic equine leg protection and how to apply boots
Learning pony parts!
Advanced Camp I:
Will run Monday June 12th --> Friday June 16th
Mounted instruction will cover:
-Further development of the base of support and upper body position on the flat and over fences
-Dressage work at the Intro (Group #1) and Training/First Level (Group #2)
-Showjumping course work at the 18"-2' height (Group #1) and 2'3"-2'6" height (Group #2)
-Showjumping grid work at the 18"-2' height (Group #1) and 2'3"-2'6" height (Group #2)
-Cross country terrain and course work at the 18"-2' height (Group #1) and 2'3"-2'6" height (Group #2)
Unmounted instruction will cover:
-Genetics of coat color
-Farrier care and types of shoes
-Longeing
-TPR and vital signs
-Equine dentistry
-Blemishes and unsoundnesses
-Vaccinations and diseases
-Pasture safety and management
-Course design and jump types
-Equine conditioning and fitness
Skills learned at camp, like how to take TPR are essential for proper horse care.
Advanced Camp II:
Will run Monday June 19th --> Friday June 23rd
Mounted instruction will cover:
-Further development of the base of support and upper body position on the flat and over fences
-Dressage work at the Intro (Group #1) and Training/First Level (Group #2)
-Showjumping course work at the 18"-2' height (Group #1) and 2'3"-2'6" height (Group #2)
-Showjumping grid work at the 18"-2' height (Group #1) and 2'3"-2'6" height (Group #2)
-Cross country terrain and course work at the 18"-2' height (Group #1) and 2'3"-2'6" height (Group #2)
Unmounted instruction will cover:
-TPR and vital signs
-Conformation (form to function)
-Equine leg anatomy (bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments)
-Different leg wraps and how to apply them
-Equine first aid
-Braiding and show turnout
-Bits: terminology and mechanics
-Tack: terminology and purpose
-Saddle fitting
-Equine parasites and worming
