Lesson Policies
-
All riders must be properly dressed in barn attire; including an ATSM/SEI helmet, closed-toed shoes with a two inch heel, and long pants. Gloves are recommended.
-
All riders are required to sign a “Waiver of Liability” before participating in any equine activity. A parent or guardian must be present to sign for a minor.
-
All riders are required to sign a copy of the barn policies. A parent or guardian must be present to sign for a minor.
-
Lesson packages are $175 a month.
-
Lessons must be paid in advance or at the time of the first lesson of the package. Payments made more than 24 hours after the first lesson of the package will incur a $10 late fee per day that payment is overdue.
-
Cancellations by clients must be made 12 hours in advance in order to receive a makeup. Cancellations made less than 12 hours in advance will not receive a makeup lesson or a discount to their monthly package cost. This applies to "no shows" as well.
-
Bolingbrook Farm reserves the right to reschedule lessons in the event of inclement weather. Examples include: heavy rain storms, snow/ice, and dangerously hot or freezing temperatures. This is done with the safety of both horses and riders in mind. All lesson cancellations due to weather will be made by 1 p.m. the day of the lesson. Weather cancellations will always receive a makeup at the earliest possible convenience. If prolonged periods of inclement weather prevent riding, additional unmounted instruction will be offered as an option for making up lessons.
-
Consistency of lessons is key to developing a proper riding technique, even recreational riding is a sport! Because of this, makeups will be scheduled for all unattended lessons that follow our rescheduling policy. Lesson packages cannot be skipped without that rider being moved to the waiting list.
-
Lesson packages are renewed automatically at the start of each month. To discontinue from the lesson program, riders must notify the barn before the 1st of the month or incur the cost of the following month's lesson package.
-
Our program is designed to foster the growth of independent horse people. For this reason, we ask that parents observe the learning process from a distance.
